5th Grade Multi-Cultural Marketplace at F.E.S.

On Thursday May 31st, the elementary school's cafeteria was transformed into a global marketplace  All 5th grade students and teachers celebrated cultures from around the world showcasing work from their 5ht grade Culture Studies unit.  Projects were on display and many student-made crafts were for sale: jewelry, note cards, potted plants, t-shirts, and artifacts from area organizations.  Parents made and donated international food to sell.   All proceeds from the event went to Fambul Tok, Safe Passage, Konbit Sante, Fur Cultural Revival, and Water for South Sudan.

8th Grade Discovery Week

                                          A Celebration of Service
Non profits and community Agencies Through the Eyes of 8th Grade  Students

The last week of school at Falmouth Middle School was a week of learning outside the traditional classroom. 8th Grade students participated in Discovery Week which has a strong service component.

140 - 8th grade students were placed in 17 different area non-profits and community agencies for a morning of service. Students then returned to FMS to reflect on their experiences. They worked with the service team to create power point presentations and display boards about the organizations, the clients they serve,  and what they did while there.

It was followed with  A Celebration of Service: Non-profits and Community Agencies Through the Eyes of 8th Grade Students. There was a booth for each of the 17 organizations the school partnered with, which provided and opportunity  for the students to present about the agencies and for parents, students, teachers, and the community to learn about them.

This is the 4th year the 8th Grade has had Discovery Week. Many students have stayed active with the agency they worked with in 8th grade or become involved with service at other organizations.
