On Saturday, October 13 students enjoyed a hike up Bradbury Mt. to raise awareness and funds for United to End Genocide and the Fur Cultural Revival; the Darfur Community Center of Maine. This event was created and organized by Geneva Waite, FHS senior, one of the student artists who participated in The Beauty of Darfur, The Tragedy of Genocide art project last school year.

When we arrived at Bradbury Mt. the park ranger came out and wanted to shake the hand of the young woman who made this happen and tell her how proud he was of her.

El-Fadel Arbab, an educator, lead speaker for the Fur Cultural Revival, and a refugee from Darfur, came with us, along with another young man from Darfur, Sadik Adam. Sadik arrived in Maine just two months ago from a refugee camp in Jordan. El-Fadel and Sadikhad not experienced the beauty of Bradbury Mountain before. Sadig said he will keep the view from the top of Bradbury Mountain in his heart forever.
